Lesson 1: Parts of Speech

For each language, there is a dam of words that contain that language. Those words are classified according to their categories and functions.
Theoretically, they are put in parts, and they are brought together under a specific logic. Those parts are known as parts of speech, and the logic governing the combination of the words is known as grammatical rules.
So What Are the Parts of Speech in English?
In English, there are eight parts of speech, namely:
Noun: it names a person, an animal, a thing, a place, or an idea.
Examples: Jhon, London, dog, table, hope,…
Pronoun: it is used in place of a noun or noun phrases to avoid repetition.
Examples: I, you, mine, it, those.
- I want to visit it with her.
Verb: it shows an action or a state of being. it can show what someone is doing or did.
Examples: go, speak, living, played, been,…

Adjective: it describes, modifies, or gives more information about a noun or a pronoun.
Examples: cold, old, fat, happy, fine, young, tall,…
- The little fat boy is smart.
Adverb: it modifies an adjective, a verb, or another adverb. it tells how, where, when,…
Examples: slowly, quickly, well, happily, always, very, too,…
- Yesterday, I ate my lunch quickly.
Preposition: it shows the relationship of a noun, noun phrase, or pronoun to another word.
Examples: on, at, in, from, about, of,….
- I left my keys on the table for you.
Conjunction: it joins two words, ideas, phrases together and shows how they are connected.
Examples: or, but, because, until, so, for….
- I love football, but she loves tennis.
Interjection: it is a word or phrase that expresses a strong emotion. it is a short exclamation.
Examples: ouch! Wow! Alas! Pity! Ugh!...
- Wow! I passed my English Exam.

In general, those are the parts of speech in English as explained in lesson 1. Now, for each part of speech, there are rules that govern its form variations and usage.
